The Spooky Men’s Chorale is a magnificent, many-headed beast which has single-handedly turned the world of men’s singing upside down.
Bypassing well trodden avenues, they carve out new territories of mighty man sounds, exquisite tenderness, and charming stupidity to both celebrate masculinity and mock it.
“Highly theatrical, they veer from weird to touching and back again. Grown up entertainment in the best, most infantile way. Don’t miss an opportunity to see them” – Daily Telegraph
Formed in New South Wales in 2001, the Spooks have become rock-solid festival and theatre favourites in Australia, UK and Europe, with seven albums and 900 gigs under their belts. No subject is too trivial or weighty for their attention, and such ability to find new musical rooms to explore contributes greatly to their astonishing fan loyalty.
The show evokes musical worlds far beyond that suggested by their unassuming, casually hatted, black-clad appearance. They are just a bunch of blokes, but where they take you will blow your mind.
The globe-trotting Australian-born man choir, in middle age, are discovering new rooms in the man cave. As well as finding the funny side of their own impending doom, they celebrate the joys of doing absolutely nothing, discover their own outrage at the baggage carousel, and evoke the majesty of 80,000 slaves building the great pyramid.
“Inspired – and a triumph of choreography! Catch them on the road – a fantastic night out is guaranteed!” Mark Radcliffe, BBC Radio 2
They announced today:
Yes, it’s true! we’re playing 10 gigs this year, before we head to Denmark and Germany
You will see that, for logistical reasons, they are south-ish, we ask for the forbearance of those north-ish, and assure you that going south-ish in 2025 makes going north-ish in 2026 more possible! You will see that we are going to some south-ish places for the first time in a few years, and to Cornwall for the first time…please tell your Aunty, and that ex housemate – it shall be lovely….and—-ooop! do book soon, other twerps are already snaffling good seats! your eternal servant
S. J. Taberner, Spookmeister
Their last UK tour saw a large number of sell-out concerts at major venues and a whole raft of ecstatic festival audience reactions.
