The Gryphon Flies Once More.

Jun 9, 2024

It’s whispered on the website, by the press agent, the record label and amongst fandom that merry medieval rockers Gryphon have recently had recording machines in operation at gigs they’ve undertaken. The results of which have all been through the mixing process at Morden Shoals studios, keeping guitarist Graeme Taylor very busy behind his desk. Ensuing product will be issued later by those decent individuals at Talking Elephant Records and reflecting the lengthy time a Gryphon concert takes, the album’s going to be a double CD.

With several changes in personnel since they last issued a recording and lots of concerts to bed in new members Clare Taylor (violin,) Andy Findon (woodwinds/ reeds) and Rob Levy (bass) alongside originals Brian Gulland (keyboards/basoon,) Dave Oberle (drums/vocals) and the afore mentioned Mr. Taylor, Gryphon still keep the balance between serious music and having fun. As their website says “Gryphon is the oldest and the newest thing.” This crew acknowledge their past – albums like ‘Midnight Mushrumps’ ‘Red Queen To Gryphon Three’ are represented – but also their present, offering selections from  more recent outings ‘ Re-Invention,’ ‘Get Out Of My Father’s Car!’

Further live shenanigans come in the form of a free stream of a 2016 concert from The Union Chapel in Islington, accessed by visiting the News pages at their website thegryphonpages.com That should hold you until this unique aggregation deliver the new in concert release.

With a fresh agent and increased social platfrom presence Gryphon are primed for action once more. Spiral Earth recommends you fly with them.
