The Demon Barbers – New Line Up for 2022

Jul 14, 2021

The award winning Demon Barbers, celebrated an impressive two decades of galvanising the folk scene during ‘Lockdown’ 2020. Their rousing rhythms, soaring crescendos and no holds barred approach to their stunning, critically acclaimed, live shows have made them firm favourites on the folk scene.

After an enforced two year hiatus, along with the majority of live musicians, 2022 will see an exciting new Demon Barbers line-up.

Damien Barber will be joined by; percussionist Ali Mac, virtuoso Fiddler Florence Rutherfoord-Jones, squeezebox player Cohen Braithwaite-Kilcoyne, keyboardist Gareth Taylor and Fergus Quill on double bass! These fresh, young, musicians will help develop the Demon Barbers in a different musical, & creatively exciting, direction while enabling Damien to capture the spirit of his traditional folk roots & perform the music he loves, live, to audiences both old & new.

The band will say an emotional goodbye to long-time musical collaborators & friends; Ben Griffith, Will Hampson, & Bryony Griffith, who have moved on to work on other projects.

Ben is now part of the experimental electronic duo Yard Nule & will also continue to perform with The Demon Barbers XL in The Lock In ‘Christmas Carol’ and will be joining them for another ‘lived streamed’ Christmas Party on 19th December 2021.

Bryony has formed a duo with Alice Jones & also joined a new fiddle band ‘The English Fiddle Ensemble’ (with Ross Grant, Rosie Butler-Hall and Jim Boyle). Bryony & Will will also be contributing to Michael Walsh’s Quarehawk band.

Expect to see The Demon Barbers creating a spectacular, captivating folk party at a venue near you in 2022!
