The AFO virtual conference 2021

Feb 2, 2021

The Association of Festival Orgnisers annual conference generally takes place over a weekend in November. Obviously that kind of face to face social interaction is a thing of the past, so it is now coming to you on Saturday 20 February 2021 from 10am to 10pm as an online event, for the not unreasonable price of £50 to non-members.

The AFO has strived to amplify the voice of smaller grassroots festivals for decades. Having been denied all festivals for all of 2020 and fearfully for a chunk of 2021, it really hits home how valuable these celebrations of music, performance and collective social enjoyment really are.

Unfortunately our government doesn’t seem to share those sentiments, their dismissal of the arts, leisure and hospitality sectors is breathtaking in it’s arrogance. Reminds me of Arrogance, Ignorance and Greed by Show of Hands (aimed at bankers, but still applicable). So organistions such as the AFO are crucial right now, uniting voices, spreading information and lobbying government.

If you run a festival and are not currently a member, please do consider joining to strengthen the voice of this sector.
