Skinner & T’witch Christmas single

Dec 16, 2021

Skinner & T’witch are really excited that their new, folk-rock Christmas single, ‘We Need A New New Year’, is now available to listen to/download via https://skinnerandtwitch.bandcamp.com/track/we-need-a-new-new-year ❤️🎶

‘We Need A New New Year’ is about using the Christmas spirit to make changes in 2022 (see lyrics below).

Proceeds from the sale of the song will go to Pauline Town and We Shall Overcome Ashton-under-Lyne, who are doing a sterling job of supporting homeless and other people needing a helping hand in the area this Christmas, and throughout the year.

‘(We Need) A New New Year‘ features the marvellous Joshua Burnell on keys, Hugh Bradley on electric bass mandolin, and John Arnesen on drums.

Skinner & T’witch have been on the road since 2014; released five albums; and have performed widely around the UK. They recently toured both in Australia and the US.

Drawing on music-hall and vaudeville traditions, Skinner & T’witch’s show combines comedy and satire with folk, flamenco and theatre-style songs.

‘Skinner & T’witch are unique: there is nobody to compare them with’. The Living Tradition

Recorded at The Billiard Room Studio and produced by the truly marvellous Carl Rosamond of RRS Music & Media, Leeds, England: www.rrsmusic.com

We Need A New New Year

Did you say it’s Christmas, did you say New Year?
Time to come together to share the Christmas cheer
You may be lighting candles, you may be drinking beer
We need a new, New Year.

Here’s to the homeless whose spirits fallen low
Sleeping in the shelter with nowhere left to go
Drinking in the doorway, hiding by the hedge
Breathing in the winter wind and living on the edge.

Did you say it’s Christmas, did you say New Year?
Time to come together to share the Christmas cheer
You may be lighting candles, you may be drinking beer
We need a new, New Year.

We need a new, we need a new, we need a new, New Year.
We need a new, we need a new, we need a new, New Year.

Here’s to the stranger, the frightened refugee
Let’s hope that this Xmas means more than mugs of tea
Left their life behind them, left their broken land
Now they need a manger, they need a helping hand.

Did you say it’s Christmas, did you say New Year?
Time to come together to share the Christmas cheer
Let’s cut the usual cliches, let’s make it real and true
We’ve got to make the changes in 2022.

We need a new, we need a new, we need a new New Year.
We need a new, we need a new, we need a new New Year.
