56 years old Towersey Festival is the longest running folk festival in the country and for a good proportion of five and a half decades was held in the village which bears the name. However when that was no longer an option the entire operation stayed close to home at the nearby showground whilst still on the look out for more suitable sites. Now one has been located and agreed, the Claydon Estate in Buckinghamshire – not that far from original Oxfordshire beginnings. Organiser Joe Heap is full of enthusiasm, ““We wanted somewhere that would win the hearts of our visitors. We are thrilled to have found a site that is so keen to work with us on the future of the event. A site that offers such natural beauty and a great blank canvas for us to create a Towersey Festival for the future”.
Already booked for 2020, Kate Rusby, Show of Hands and Steeleye Span headline the fourday event from 28th – 31st August next year. More details at www.towerseyfestival.com
