New Festival Launched by Costa del Folk Team

Jan 15, 2021

A new music festival has been launched this month by the team who operate the highly successful Costa Del Folk.

The Aviemore Festival will take place between 6 – 10 December 2021 in the Cairngorms in Scotland.

‘We knew that there was a lot of pent-up demand from our Costa customers, following the cancellation of pretty much every live music event in 2020.’ says Director Angela Schofield, ‘Launching a new festival in these uncertain times, does of course carry some risk and we knew it had to be a top-quality experience in every respect, with the best possible line up, in a fabulous location’

‘Aviemore is a stunning location and getting there will be part of the fun.’ continues husband and fellow Director Andy, ‘We have arranged a dedicated coach package from the South West, that includes an overnight either side of the festival.  Plus, there are direct trains to Aviemore on the East Coast main line, or flights into Inverness.’ Andy explains. ‘Alternatively, customers may choose to take a leisurely drive through some of the most spectacular countryside in the UK’

Programme Director John Watterson is delighted with the response from artists. ‘Everyone we have approached has been so enthusiastic and supportive of this launch and we have a line-up to rival any festival in the country. It will be a real celebration of folk rock, traditional music, contemporary and roots, along with a dash of quirkiness and comedy. Add to this the ceilidhs, sessions and activities and we think this will be a hugely enjoyable test of everyone’s stamina. All this and the chance to stroke a reindeer!’

Angela and Andy have been taking bookings constantly since the festival was launched. ‘The response has been amazing,’ says Angela. ‘We are extremely proud of our reputation at Costa for being among one of the friendliest and most welcoming festivals and Aviemore will certainly follow in that tradition, with an extra sprinkling of magic.’

As well as Costa Del Folk and Aviemore Festival, the team also operate River Cruises showcasing top entertainers such as Richard Thompson, Fairport Convention, Fascinating Aida and Show of Hands.
