Folk by the Oak, the ever-popular family friendly music festival set in the leafy surrounds of Hatfield Park have made their first 2024 line-up announcement – and it’s a big one!
On announcing Levellers as their Main Stage headliners, Festival Director Adam Slough said: “Since their mighty performance at Folk by the Oak 2017 our wonderful audience have made many requests for the return of legendary band Levellers. One of the most sought-after festival bands in the country, we are so excited to welcome them back to close the 2024 festival with an explosive set of much-loved hits.”
Formed in the late 1980s in Brighton, the band’s second album, Levelling the Land, included such seminal tracks as One Way, 15 Years and Liberty Song, and catapulted them to the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury as headliners in 1994. What a Beautiful Day, one of their most successful singles, was released in 1997 but remains a festival anthem to this day.
Levellers legion of loyal fans is rapidly expanding with new devotees thanks to their Top 20 albums We The Collective and Together All The Way released in March 2023, both acoustic reworkings of their much loved back catalogues, but the Levellers you will see at Folk by the Oak will be the electric version, literally and metaphorically, as they close the Main Stage with another rousing, high energy set packed with the tracks you know and love.
As a one-day festival with 2 stages, both situated in their compact and leafy arena, visitors to Folk by the Oak have come to expect a whole day of back-to-back sublime music at this family friendly Herts music festival. The organisers are renowned for bringing together a ‘line-up of headliners’ to their Main Stage and, with a start this strong, we can no doubt expect many more exciting international artists and up-and-coming talent to be announced in the coming weeks.
