Jon Boden & The Remnant Kings Return to Touring with Promise of New Album

Jun 18, 2024

After 18 months away from touring (working on a new album to be released autumn 2024) Jon Boden & The Remnant Kings return to the live arena with their unique brand of post-apocalyptic folk, played in a traditional style vs. traditional folk played with post-apocalyptic swagger.

The forthcoming album from Bellowhead front-man Boden promises Waitsian parlour ballads and Napoleonic power-pop, to be debuted on this tour alongside the band’s 15 year back-catalogue of traditional and original songs and tunes. The band combines a deep understanding of traditional music with musical audacity and theatrical brio, and features the enormous talents of Sam Sweeney (Bellowhead), Rob Harbron (Leveret), Ben Nicholls (Seth Lakeman Band), Sally Hawkins (Bellowhead) and the vocals and pedal-steel guitar of cult singer-songwriter M.G. Boulter.

Jon Boden says:

I‘m incredibly excited to get the new album out into the world – our first since 2019. It’s a different sound to previous recordings, with a lot of piano and pedal-steel in the mix.

The tour will be with the full six piece band  (Sam Sweeney, Rob Harbron, M.G. Boulter, Sally Hawkins and Ben Nicholls.) As you can imagine it’s getting harder and harder to taker bigger line-ups out on the road without re-mortgaging the house so if you can make it please do come 🙏

Here’s a lovely reminder of them playing Shrewsbury Folk Festival with the late Paul Sartin:
