With Jamie Smith’s MABON collecting their 20th anniversary rosettes in 2019, the band is gearing up for some busy months of celebration ahead. The fun starts with a number of shows across the UK this spring and summer, which will be recorded to make JSM’s new live album ‘The Twenty Year Gig’, to be released and toured in November 2018, continuing far into 2019. Frontman and tunesmith, Jamie, says of his plans for ‘The Twenty Year Gig’ album and tour, “it’s going to be a lot of fun opening up the vault and dusting off some tunes we probably haven’t played for over a decade! The aim is to create a career-spanning set list, including tracks from each of our six albums to date, plus a couple of brand new pieces. For our fans, it will hopefully be something of a greatest hits album, but performed live”. Having blitzed many of the UK’s major folk festivals last year, the band are back on their European travels this summer and looking further ahead, have some very exciting foreign and UK plans – to be announced soon – for their 20th year anniversary in 2019. First things first though! Albums don’t record themselves and live albums rely on an enthusiastic audience that is up for being a part of the magic.
