Jul 19, 2025

Afri-Fest East is Set to Ignite Norwich with a Vibrant Celebration of African Culture, Music, and Culinary Delights!
Get ready for an explosion of vibrant culture, electrifying rhythms, and mouthwatering flavours as Afri-Fest East returns to Chapelfield Gardens, Norwich, on Saturday, August 16th, 2025! Afri-Fest East is poised to deliver the most anticipated Afro-centric summer event in East Anglia, promising an unforgettable experience for all ages. The festival is supported by Art Council England and Norfolk Community Foundation. It is also part of the programme of activities for 2025 UK/Kenya season of culture in Collaboration with the British Council and Africa Centre London.
Afri-Fest East is thrilled to announce that award winning Kenyan music artist BIEN (Sauti Sol) will be performing live, bringing his dynamic sound and East African flair to the Norwich stage as part of a diverse musical lineup. The festival will also feature world- renowned music group NSG, performing their hit tracks live. African / Afrobeats artists YXL Ayo and Nubia from London will also be performing. For the rest of the evening, there will be partying to Afrobeat and Amanpiano songs played by DJ Laz, Tashera, Muwa and Sushi.
The festival will comprise daytime and evening sessions: The daytime session will include live performances of African music idioms and Congolese rumba/rock by Zong Zing All Stars. Immerse the family in the sound of djembe, drumming, talking drum, shekere, udu, agogo & a kora performance by Sefo Kanuteh & Meriya Band. Expect dynamic performances from the Egyptian Dance Group. The day will be hosted by Usifu Jalloh, The Cow Foot Prince who will also lead African storytelling. Experience East African culture through the display of costumes, drumming and singing from Bantu Arts. Obase and the African Spy Band will bring it all together. They deliver contemporary, modern African tunes to get audiences on their feet.
In addition, various games such as ludo, ayo (Mancala), draft, African tahti, and chess will be played. A kid’s entertainer will be present to keep the youngsters busy all day with several fun activities.
Throughout the day, the air will be filled with the tantalizing aromas of authentic African cuisine, with a selection of hot and cold food representing different regions of the continent. Interactive workshops, traditional games, and a dedicated kids’ entertainer will keep children engaged, a face painter and a dedicated soft play area, ensuring there is something for everyone. Children under 12 attend for free. There will also be a bar with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Away from music, dance, and games, the venue will be transformed into an oasis showcasing the rich visual tapestry of African culture, adorned with vibrant prints from West African, alongside diverse art and cultural symbols that reflect the depth, history, and richness of African heritage.
Saturday 16th Aug, 11:00am – 10pm. Tickets: Kids go for free. Teenagers £15, Adult tickets from £25.
