The Line-Up Increases!
Folk by the Oak Festival announce Grace Petrie, Project Smok and More
With internationally renowned folk-rock band Bear’s Den bringing anthemic and harmonious joy to the headline set at Folk by the Oak Festival this summer, plus ‘First Lady of Folk’ Kate Rusby and the spirited masters of the sea shanty Fisherman’s Friends already announced, the festival has just revealed yet more superb musicians for their 2025 line-up.
First up is the powerhouse that is Grace Petrie. Long renowned for her razor sharp lyricism and the joyful, welcoming nature of her stunning live shows, Petrie smashed the UK charts with latest album ‘Build Something Better’. Produced by Frank Turner and packed with full-hearted modern folk anthems, it shot to the top of both the folk and the UK download chart, cementing her status as one of Britain’s most beloved songwriters.

“After her ‘stand out’ Acorn Stage performance in 2019 Grace Petrie quite rightly attracted one of the longest signing queues we have ever had at Folk by the Oak! Her sheer talent and amazing audience rapport meant it was only a matter of time before she was booked for the Main Stage” Festival Director Caroline Slough told us.
Folk by the Oak’s Acorn Stage has a reputation for headliners that lift the spirits, bring a wave of joy and get the festival dancing. This year will be no exception as they announce the fully energised Scottish neo-trad trio Project Smok for the closing set . Project Smok skilfully unite the Celtic folk tradition with electro dance music creating a unique, refreshing and irresistible sound!

Also announced for the festival’s 2nd stage are two very contrasting but equally exciting bands. Multi-instrumentalist, percussionist, singer and composer Suntou Susso will perform with his 6 piece band, their music rooted in Mandinka musical traditions strongly infused with jazz, funk and soul.

With richly emotive vocals and multi-instrumental flare the captivating folk trio Holly and the Reivers will perform their devilishly delicious melodies and ingenious chord crunching harmonies that sing new life into trad English, Americana and Irish songs.

With 13 sets across 2 stages, and with the Melrose Quartet and Janice Burns and Jon Doran already announced, organisers are gearing up for their final announcements in the near future.
