Spiral Earth is pleased to tip you the wink about the publication by Starcrazy Books of one of the most curious and entertaining cookbooks ever devised. Titled ‘Deadly Dining’ this limited edition book was published on 13 February 2022.
Welcome to the weird and wonderful world of Judy Dyble’s terrible recipes. Best known as the first female vocalist for Fairport Convention, she had a reputation for knitting while on stage and even knitting a string scarf while watching Jimi Hendrix play at a legendary London club. Her sense of silliness permeated her progressive music and her personal life and came to the fore in 2018 when she began creating these ‘tantalising treats’ for amusement to entertain family, friends and Facebook followers. Judy’s imagination crafted a totally different world populated by creatures and critters with her tongue-in -cheek sense of humour and her alternative take on being a domestic goddess.
Now those disastrous delicacies have been posthumously curated by her family into this ‘non cookbook’. The recipes she devised are the antithesis to the myriad of cookery programmes and cook books on the market. Now the cobwebbed crockery, detonated dinners and escapee ingredients that she conjured up are yours to enjoy in 33 hilarious takes, beautifully illustrated by Oxfordshire artist Louise Regan.
This is not gourmet dining, this is a book to tickle your fancy – if not your tastebuds! For more information www.judydyble.com Copies of the book are now available from Burning Shed and www.judydyble.com
