Norfolk Festival Brings Together Top Folk Acts, Including,
Gaz Brookfield, Mad Dog Mcrea, Steve Knightly, 3 Daft Monkeys, and Project Smok.
Award-winning Norfolk festival, Folk in a Field, is set to return to Bradmoor Woods in West Acre for it’s 10 year anniversary on the 3rd – 6th July 2025.
What started as a simple idea to bring top-quality folk music to the local community has since evolved into a must-attend event for music enthusiasts and families alike. As it enters its tenth event, the festival promises a diverse range of activities, shows, workshops, and stalls, along with performances from headliners Gaz Brookfield, Mad Dog Mcrea, Steve Knightly from Show of Hands, the 3 Daft Monkeys and Project Smok.

Since its inception in 2015 with approximately 350 people attending, Folk in a Field has grown year on year, selling out in 2023 and 2024 with around 1800 attendees. As a woodman on the West Acre Estate, festival founder, Luke Horncastle helped build the unique wooden structures in the glade at Bradmoor Woods, and the location inspired the idea for the festival.
Folk in a Field offers a diverse mix of folk, acoustic, and roots music from all over, see full lineup below. Set in a remote woodland clearing, the event boasts a laid-back environment to ‘get away from it all’ whilst serving locally sourced ales, lagers and ciders with numerous food outlets. Tickets include free camping, free parking and free admission for under 12’s. The event is also dog friendly. The Foolhardy Circus will also be attending with an array of comedy and danger shows including a fire show before the main act on Saturday Night.
Amongst a lineup of over 47 performances from dance, fire breathing and live music are headliners, Gaz Brookfield and the Company of Thieves. His album Morning Walking Club upon release in 2023, hit #1 in the Bandcamp Folk charts, #1 in the Official UK Folk Album Charts, #3 in the Official Indie Breaker Charts, #6 in the Official Download Charts, #10 in the Official Indie Album Charts, and #37 in the UK Album Sales Charts.

Project Smok is the neo-trad trio of Ali Levack, Ewan Baird and Pablo Lafuente, whose nonconformist and progressive Scottish traditional music has set them apart since their formation in 2017. They play tunes built around the distinctive piping of BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2020 Ali Levack, paired with Ewan Baird’s skilled bodhran playing and Pablo Lafuente’s nuanced guitar, electric guitar and production, the trio manage to naturally bring together an array of musical aspects. Throw in instrumental virtuosity, blistering drive, infectious rhythm and a delicate sensitivity and you have Project Smok’s thirst-quenching sound.

“Folk in a Field has become a highlight of the summer for music lovers and families across the region,” said Luke Horncastle, the festival’s founder. “We’re thrilled to be returning to Bradmoor Woods for our 10 year anniversary, and we can’t wait to share another incredible weekend of music, activities, and good times with our attendees.”
Whether attendees want to enjoy foot-stomping music, a relaxing family weekend away, or catch up with friends, Folk in a Field is the festival for them.
