Anglo/French Folk Band Topette back on the road for 2023 Tour Dates

Jun 1, 2023

Topette!! occupy a unique position in the current folk and traditional music landscape.

A collaboration between five highly-regarded individuals from two countries, they’re the kind of perfect idea that, if they didn’t already exist, someone would have to invent it. Yet Topette!! are no mere ‘project’ band. They’re a fully-formed and functioning group of the kind that rarely comes around. They are a true collective-bonded as much by the joy found in each other’s company as in their shared musical vision
Last summer’s eleven date UK tour  was cruelly cut short for the Anglo – French folk band Topette!! – when after just four gigs, two band members were struck down by the dreaded Covid. After some regrouping and organising, they’re back on the road in June, for a seven date run of gig’s, featuring top players from England and France, including multiple BBC folk awards Musician of the Year, Andy Cutting.

They kick off with a residential weekend, including a Saturday night bal, at Halsway Manor in Somerset, from the 23rd to 25th of June.

Then head to Bristol on Monday the 26th. For their first time at the Jam Jar, a fantastic, atmospheric venue where they have invited a couple of French guest players, as well as recording audio and video for a live album.

On Tuesday the 28th they make a joyful return to North Wales, for the first time since 2019. This was one of the gigs they sadly lost last year, so they were sad as they have “always had a brilliant time up there.”
Llanfairfechan Community Hall –

Wednesday the 28th they are in Sheffield. Another one that was missed last year. There will be plenty of space for dancing and midweek merriment at Crookes Club!

Thursday 29th brings Topette!! to Norwich, for the first time. Expect top-quality tunes and enormous grooves for dancers and listeners alike, at The Canary Club.

Friday the 30th of June takes them to St Nicolas’ Church in Guildford.  For what is guaranteed to will be a special one. The event,  organised by  will see them playing for a French Dance workshop, with Jo Freya before the main bal*

Then into July, the 1st with their first bal/concert at Clapham Library in London. Organised in association with   this will be a treat for anyone interested in great live music and dancing. Featuring accordion maestro Andy Cutting and French bagpipe and banjo lunatic Julien Cartonnet, this will be the last Saturday night of Topette’s tour, and is likely to be a big one!

And finally, on Sunday the 2nd of July, an afternoon gig in Brighton. Listeners and dancers of all ages are welcome at Patcham Memorial Hall, for a “Tea-Bal”. This will be their first time playing in Brighton, and they can’t wait!

So, if you haven’t witnessed this Anglo-French Folk experience before.. now is your chance!!
